about

Levi J. Burr is a versatile and adventurous Australian musician who unites the elements of country blues, ambient and fingerstyle guitar music to create tranquil, yet dreamy pastoral soundscapes. Evoking everything from dusty farmsteads to wide-open skies that pop with thousands of dancing stars, Burr’s songs take you deep within the many facets and diverse foundations of his vast sonic world.

Burr’s passion for his craft can be traced to his family’s rich musical heritage, which goes all of the way back to his great-grandmother, a renowned entertainer on cruise ships in the 1920s, and his banjo and fiddle-playing great-grandfather. Their legacy has inspired Burr to carry on traditions while forging his own artistic path. In addition to his musical ancestry, Burr has a deep connection to grassroots living and finds joy in growing food at home. This reverence for nature and simple pleasures translates into his art, infusing it with an organic and authentic quality.

Burr’s distinctively earthy yet expansive sound is right at home with the works of cosmic Americana heroes like SUSS and North Americans, as well as his own past collaborators, like Chuck Johnson and legendary pedal steel guitarist, BJ Cole. With Another Domino Map, Burr’s debut LP, being met with positive reviews and generous airplay, and even being chosen as one of the Best Country Music Releases on Bandcamp in June 2024, Burr is rightfully being recognised as a part of this exciting and ever-progressing subgenre.

His second LP, Bucolic Confection, released digitally in 2024, with a limited edition cassette (sold out), features collaborations with other greats from the ambient country and experimental music scenes, such as Seawind of Battery, The Far Sound and D. Bruce Aitken. Bucolic Confection was recognized by The Third Eye, a prominent psychedelic music blog, as one of the best psych releases for October 2024, in addition to being included on end of year lists from Battery Operated, Church of Cosmic Noise and Record Crates United.

Burr’s upcoming third LP will see its release on January 27th 2026, and features contributions from Mike 'Slo-Mo' Brenner (Magnolia Electric Co.), The Howard Hughes Suite and The Far Sound. The CD launch will be held at Sappho Books in Glebe a few weeks later on February 7th.

Whatever direction Burr’s music might take, it’ll always bring listeners somewhere genuine, half-way between the canyons of his heart and the beauty, grit and wonder of the natural world around him.
